Unit 1 & 2 Projects

At first, I wasn't sure what I was going to make my stamp as, I looked at everyone else's and it didn't really help. So I thought I would just make a J for Jesse, My name.

When I started making the general shape of the face, I wanted to make it look as human as I could, then I realized, that's a lot harder than I thought, so I tried different things such as making my thumb prints like eyes and then adding eyes. Then I realized it needed a nose and a mouth and tried to make the face look older.

When I found a plate I was interested in making, I started on the shape. It didn't start off great due to me never having enough clay to fill the whole plate, but I figured it out eventually. After I got the shape down, I started on the design of the it and picked a roller with a design that I liked, along with the boxes on the corners. After that, I figured it needed color, so I pick a under glaze color skim I thought fit well.

Unit 2

Unit 1

I first started by making pinch pot by having this mold and sticking my thumb in it slowly making it bigger and more into a pot. Then when I made the pot shape I cut it in half with a wire.

I again started by making a pinch pot and getting the shape I liked. The I put little creases init using my finger on the top of the pot. Then I used a guitar pick for the cut outs of the picks on the pot and make music notes after. Then after if was leather hard I put under glaze on it giving The pot the color.

I didn't know what to start and make so I looked through a magazine at this tea pot set that had these weird shaped cups which I began to make but then changed it into my double pot piece by cutting out two of the same shapes of pots and cutting the bottom off one to put on top. The I fired it and painted it to give it this color.

I started with looking for a historical piece then realized I could make a mini master piece and a historical piece in one by taking a historical bull sculpture and making it a bowl as well. I made the shape of the bull by making the clay thinner and make the head and feet. Then I added the horns. Then I put under glaze on it and fired it.

I made this as a choice piece, I started with looking up turtle ceramics and finding a candle ceramic. Then I got a big slump of clay and started on the shell. After finishing the shape of the turtle I began to think of what to add so I thought to put a canon on top so when the candle smokes it will look cooler.
