Unit 6 Projects
This is a 2 in 1 project bringing together the whimsical house and tea pot projects. It is supposed to be a pumpkin house with a tea pot shape to cover both projects. The most difficult part was probably hollowing out the inside of it because the clay was very wet and it I made it to slim it would cave in. Getting it to look like a pumpkin was also hard because I didn't really know how to. In the end I ended up trashing it because I didn't have time to finish it and it was still to wet to fire.
This is my final, a platter with a whimsical feel to it. It has mushroom sculptures on the side and 2 sections with space for food. This is representing a map like loop with bridges connecting all the areas. The most difficult part was probably just getting the idea of what to make because I was back and forth between things. I never had time to finish painting it and was planning on finishing it on Monday but the kiln wasn't emptied so I couldn't glaze it. But I was planning to make the sections between the barriers to but blue for water and then paint the mushrooms red with white dots. Finally, I was going to make one section look like a beach and one look like a castle.
This is my Organic shape in the shape of a pair. It's a pretty simple shape and easy idea to make, and I didn't run into many problems, other than the clay being too hard to finish it sometimes. I also hollowed out the back of the pair to make it not explode in the kiln. But all together it was a simple Organic shape to make and didn't run into much problems.
